Mrs. Seales Tells Us A Story

Each month Mrs. Seales visits fifth grade!  Today, she told a couple of spooky stories!  She is the only person I know who can keep our fifth graders absolutely speechless!  Maybe, she needs to visit more often!  :)

Final Reminders

Students who have pre-ordered lunches must bring the appropriate amount of cash sealed in an envelope to their teacher.  Please send correct change and be sure to write your child's name and the amount enclosed on the outside of the envelope.  We will be collecting this in the classroom first thing Thursday morning in order to pay the vendor when we pick up our lunches.  Please do not forget to send it because we will not have time to call home and wait for someone to bring the money that morning.  If you pre-ordered a cheeseburger, hamburger, or corndog combo - send $5.00; hot dog combo - send $4.00.  Parents and students may purchase lunch directly from the vendors at the park if they decide not to bring a sack lunch from home.

For parents who are going on the trip, after dropping off your child please park in the overflow parking lot and wait there for us to pull out if you wish to follow the bus.  All students must ride the bus to Moundville, but parents may sign them out at the end of the day and take them home.  Students may not be signed out by any person not on the check-out list.

All school rules apply during the field trip.  Students may not bring any electronic devices or cell phones on the trip.  Please adhere to the school dress code.  If your child has an Oakman shirt, they may wear that, pants with pockets to keep their spending money in, and comfortable shoes.  Don't worry if you don't have an Oakman shirt, but try to wear some kind of blue or white shirt if possible.  Come prepared to spend the entire day outside (sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.)

Moundville Field Trip

Our field trip is getting closer. Thursday, October 6th is just around the corner.  We are so excited!  Just a few reminders and we should be ready to go.

First, if your child has not preordered lunch by Friday, 9/30/11, he/she will need to bring a sack lunch from home.  Do not send lunchboxes the day of the trip.  Send lunch in something that can be thrown in the trash.

Second, all money for the trip is due Friday as well.  The cost of admission, bus, and driver is $12 per student.  You may pay with cash or a check.  Please make checks payable to Oakman Middle School.

Finally, no student will be allowed on the bus without a signed permission slip.  If your child hasn’t brought one home to you, let us know and we will send another copy home with them.

We are really looking forward to this trip.  It should be a great learning experience and a lot of fun for everyone!

Social Studies Test

Our next social studies test will be Wednesday, September 28.  It will cover all content from Chapter 2.  We completed the study guide in class today, so there is plenty of time to study and make a good grade!
